VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2009) - Lucara Diamond Corp. ("Lucara" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:LUC) is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the Government of the Republic of Botswana in respect of the Company's acquisition of a 70.268% interest in the AK6 diamond project in Botswana.
As previously announced on November 10, 2009 Lucara entered into a Sale Agreement to acquire a 70.268% interest in Boteti Exploration (Pty) Ltd. ("Boteti"), which holds a 100% interest in the AK6 project, from De Beers Prospecting Botswana (Pty) Limited ("De Beers"). All conditions requisite to completing the transaction have been satisfied and the acquisition has now closed.
